Successful online formula achieves 30% sales increase

Simplicity, convenience and speed are essential to a successful sale for any eCommerce site, so much so that technology retailer Playtech.co.nz achieved a 30% increase in sales after their new Datum Connect build website went online.

Playtech Director Paul Kao says unique hits are also up almost 40% since they switched to Datum Connect just a year ago.

“We are a specialist PC, game console and Apple Mac destination retail store. We offer specialist knowledge and support, plus all the technology products you will find at a conventional store and a lot more on top of that.

“We’re not selling t-shirts, so our catalogue is extensive because a wide choice is needed to attract customers. Our catalogue has to be detailed, accurate and comprehensive. Not duplicating data entry and the ability to constantly update stock is a priority for us.

“Our eCommerce, cloud based site with Datum Connect is cost effective, specific to our needs and designed to make the online buying process easy, convenient and simple for our customers – each one is critical to a successful sale,” says Paul.
He says the company wants to keep costs down and sell high volumes of product online. The goal is being achieved with a better designed website and a powerful back-end offering a quick search function, and one which will eventually integrate the company’s accounting, stock and sales systems to achieve one touch, instant updating across all applications.

“The integrated cloud solution is definitely the way to go – it’s very exciting. Most New Zealand businesses don’t need a dedicated server in their business.
